For sale: 1976 Marshall 100 watt amp head modified by Lee Jackson

1976 Marshall JMP MK II lead series head, modified by Lee Jackson. This has a lot of gain, and even has a knob in the back of the amp to work as a built-in power soak so you can crank the amp to get power tube saturation and then adjust the overall volume to be room level playable. This has original transformers and capacitors, etc.

Sorry the images are so large (I have a lot of repeat pictures as well), but it's about 4.2 megs in total for all of the 33-ish images. I tried to get the Metaltronix stamp and Lee Jackson's signature in the inside of the chassis in the shots as well. You can see the signature right next to (and partly under) the switching mod.

It has the second boost volume (the blue knob on the front in one of the old 4-input jacks), the one below it is the instrument cable/jack plugin for the boost footswitch. The rest is pretty standard and still has the hi and low inputs free (those work as normal).

The back has a rotary knob for the ohms setting, which is far better and safer than the original ohms selector on amps this old, and you can also see the "Master 2" volume, which if you pull that knob out, you can control the overall volume -- this allows you to set the master volume all the way up, if you want, and then control the overall volume this way, to work as a power soak to get the super saturated sound of the power tubes, without the volume.

The rest is standard. The amp has the original transformers, even the original capacitors (notice the giant blue Malloy's). The clear epoxy stuff you see in some mod areas are just to give it that extra hold. That can be removed if you ever need to see the value of a tone capacitor or something. It's in overall pretty good condition, with some nicks and small tears in the tolex, but pretty good for an amp this old (32+ years old).

NOTE: The only issue is that the LED on the power rocker switch is lit if power is going to the amp (rather than being lit only when the amp is switched to the "on" position). This does not affect the power switch and it still works as normal, as does the standby switch. The only issue is that it could be confusing to see the rocker lit when the amp is actually switched off. I don't have time to replace the rocker switch, but it would be a quick solder job and a very cheap part (it's literally $5.95 on ebay).

An unmodified '76 100 watt Marshall goes for about $1,700, and to some the mod increases or decreases the value. I'm asking $1,200 for the head. Payment via paypal, or check or money order (checks and money orders must clear completely before shipping), otherwise can do a cash deal if you're in northern California and want to meet or drive to me (I'm in Redding, CA). Email me at tim@chatbase.com or call 530-722-0271 Just trying here before I list them on ebay, etc. Thanks.

PS: I will have some sound clips up soon.
